Darfur: Our Global Responsibility
February 5, 2008
The Genocide that is taking place in Darfur is the first of this 21st century. 200,000 innocent people killed and 200 million taken away from their homes. The genocide started in Darfur in 2003, and is expanding today in 2008 to Chad. America and other nations tried to send reinforcement but none too successful. Global responsibility means you have responsibility to protect everyone around the world, and it’s our responsibility to help the people in Darfur. Many people have already spread awareness on Darfur, by making organizations. On May 2006, an organization made by Jewish people was created. Today many races are helping to the cause as well. America and many Countries planned for many years to send troops, but only China disagreed. So America has gone so far as to jeopardizing their relationship with China, just to save Darfur. China’s most proud possession in America is the Chinese Olympics, but America threatens to take it off, if they do not vote to send troops. As a result China had decided to send troops on July 21st 2007. Many people in Darfur will be saved, but not all because there is no further action to fight against the Janjaweed (the bandits killing the people in Darfur). We are doing the best we can to help the people in Darfur, since we know that it is our Global Responsibility to take action.
